#1 - Majorly comfortable, love the vibe. Charcoal velvet-y goodness. Wish the back-pillows were two vs a bunch. #2 - Ready for a long afternooon nap - this is the spot! Love the updated classic lines, buttery soft velvet. Don't like the nail head detail along front (you can see it better below - its along the rolled arm and bottom.) #3 - Like the single bottom cushion. Digging the durable linen-esque style fabric. WT-heck on the blonde legs (barf.... And Hubs isn't sold on staining something we just purchased) & the arms are really non-existent in real life.
I am worried #1 is 'too fancy' for us, and maybe #3 those arms after a month would drive me nuts. And #2's nailhead - why can't they disappear?! I want a casual glam, updated classic, collected feel. And yes, grey is the color - we have had various tan couches for...shoot I've had a tan couch since college (different ones through the years), the Hubs had one when I met him - so I think we've reached the tan-threshold for now. Color and punch will come in plants or accessories.
All of the couches have their matching chairs. We are thinking a couch, chair for now and down the line I'd like to add a third seat - a white Eames Rocker or vintage side chair. You can see the arms and lines better on the side view better.
I'd love to hear your thoughts!!!! Weigh in - and share any more resources where you've seen fabulous couches!
#1 & #2 from ZGallerie, #3 from West Elm
I don't think you should settle! I like this one:

HA! I love RH's couches and chairs - although the combos we love are far beyond the budget we are sticking to!
DeleteI love the first one, I think is my favorite. We also have grey couches, from West Elm and I adore them!! As for the side chair I would go with something different, not matching. Or just another color and then maybe add some cushions in grey? Just my thoughts ;)
ReplyDeleteI like 2 the best for napping :)
ReplyDeleteI saw this on Pinterest yesterday and loved all three. If I had to pick one, it would probably be the first because it looks the best for napping. I bought a brown couch from Room & Board as my first and kind of kick myself for not getting the gray I wanted. I was being impatient about waiting extra time because I just wanted my place to be furnished. I'm
ReplyDeleteHmm... I think I like couch # 2! It looks the coziest and while chic is def important, comfort is key! XOXO
ReplyDelete#2 for sure. The amount of pillows on #1 would kill me, and #3 feels a bit too casual!
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! I was hoping and hoping you'd chime in!!! ;)
DeleteThis is SO helpful! We are looking for a charcoal couch too and I love #2!
ReplyDeleteI really like #1!
ReplyDeleteI love the shiznit out of #3. It's SO comfortable and I wish we had it in our apartment.
ReplyDeleteIt SOOO is, but the arms are terribly low and the blonde wood legs would drive me nuts! Why can't it be easy!!!!!!
DeleteI really love the shape of #1! We just ordered a custom couch and honestly, it was a bit cheaper and we got exactly what we wanted. Otherwise, shopping for a couch can be a major pain.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you order your couch from? Would love check them out. We are still open to look more!!!!
DeleteLOVE the velvet option! xo
ReplyDeleteI think you seem to answer your own question in your post. The pillows in #1 are going to drive anyone batty. And the lack of real arms in #3 is just so uncomfortable looking. I personally think #2 is quite beautiful. But people are right, don't settle! If nail heads truly bother you that much, keep looking. Better to get the right option later.
ReplyDeleteI just recently got this sofa which looks a lot like #2 (minus the nailheads) http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/mattie-sofa?ID=571538&PseudoCat=se-xx-xx-xx.esn_results -- the reviews online aren't good, but it is honestly super comfortable and we haven't had any issues so far (3 months). It's on super sale right now too, plus for an extra 100 we have something like a 5 year warranty on it! I ordered directly from the woodfield store where you can test it out...Goodluck with your search!
ReplyDeletei'm a fan of #2 as well, but if you don't LOVE it, keep looking! macys apparently does custom fabrics on all their couches. i haven't looked into it, but i've heard good things.
ReplyDeleteGAH I found one there i kinda like, I'll have to go see if State St has one to test - comfort is big!! :) Thanks love!
DeleteLOVE #3! we got an oversized modern couch for a GREAT deal at roys.. i think they are going to rebuild or open another store! xo
ReplyDeleteLuv # 3!!!! It looks so comfortable!
ReplyDeleteI adore #2!

Is the last one from West Elm? I got one from them about 4 years ago and the cushions really didn't hold up. This one does look like it has a different kind of cushion though. Anyways, it just is something that drove me crazy about the couch we had. We just got a new one from ABC. I love it, but it was a splurge. They were having an upholstery sale when we bought it so it was 25% off.
ReplyDeleteI just came across your blog today so I'm not sure if you've already answered this in another post, but have you sat on the Z gallerie ones? I looooved the looks of the first one online and was really disappointed with how hard/uncomfortable it was! #2 was pretty comfy though...but like others have said, if you're not really happy with it I'd keep looking. Let us know what else you may find, I'm on the search for a comfy stylish grey sofa too! :)
ReplyDeleteJust a suggestion...I have the Chloe Sofa from Macy's in the graphite color and really love it. It's comfortable and very elegant looking...it's on sale right now for $599!

I have the Chloe sofa from Macy's too! I've had it for a little over a year - absolutely NO REGRETS! Love, love it! Shelia @ House of Highlands
