i've been holding out....such as tease!

So..... The wedding. I told you I would get to it eventually!! Well here I AM.

Back in Dec the Man asked me to be his wife. His WIFE!!!!!! It was one of the best moments of my life. I was completely surprised, elated and couldn't have wished for anything better! (here!)

After many, many ...*read: many many many many* we decided we would get married this June. Holy 6 months to plan! Thank goodness I am a planner and didn't feel any stress about the 'less than 1.45 years of planning' lots of people take. (Again, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, I do not mean to offend or anything of the sort. We are just doing what works best for 'US'. And that is always the key when anyone plans their wedding! US needs to be numero UNO!)

So the date was set, on to the venue and all those other glorious details! *insert more-many conversations here* We thought about the generous gifts of my parents (Big shout out to the parents you guys are great! As if you didn't know already!), and how it would best suit us to use those gifts. And we decided we were going to elope! And use the gifts towards our future as a couple. As Man and Wife.

CRAZY right?!?!?! I know. And I couldn't be more excited!!!!! But this is exactly who we are, we both march to the beat of our drums (probably me more so than him, but it is that balance that makes us absolutely perfect for each other!), and this day would truly be about us, our love and our future together!

So the weekend of June 19th we will be flying to Vegas, for a fun-filled, love sharing weekend of relaxation-marriage-sun-happiness-and love! And MARRIAGE OH YEA!

(I wonder if we are gonna be able to get to the Neon Graveyard for some pics like this?! Gonna have to chat with teh photographer!!!! )

So for the next 36-hours Mom and I are on a reconnaissance mission to sort out the details, scope out places for some awesome pictures, dinner local, after dinner dancing, best pool spots to catch rays Fri and Saturday and just to have a little bit of a break from reality back home! I can't wait.....I hope I can figure out what to pack, because darn it is hard to pack for warmth when it has only been 35-40degrees for the past month!

....na na na na na na NA!

Oh Monday, how fast you continually and constantly come each week. Alas, I haven't invented a way to time travel or avoid mother nature *yet*, so here we are!

Here is a favorite song of mine.....Joanna Newsome- Peach, Plum, Pear. The melody is happy and to me, today, feels a bit spring-y! Cuz gash darn it, Spring COME ALREADY!!!!!!! I am in dire need of heat and sun, oh and then heat and sun!

This song is a it about rejection, maybe about not getting noticed 'enough' by a significant other...who knows...But maybe it is just like how spring is giving me the cold-hard middle finger and won't let up! Hopefully soon she will be mine, we are such a pair...Peach, plum, pear!

dreamers....and drinkers!

I think, I found this out in Blogland this AM, but the corner of the picture has that site! Sorry my coffee wasn't working yet! Martha also has a version, but I was too tired to find it online, I have it ripped from her magazine.

If the man and I were having a traditional wedding...this would totally be our table centerpiece! Could you imagine all the girl's and date nights necessary to accumulate the 'proper' amount! The fun!

Simple, modern, sweet and totally US, well what i think is US! (We march to the beat of our own drums! no flowers or mirrors here, not that there is anything wrong with it, just not 'us')

You can sure bet I will be recreating something at home for a dinner party or an arrangement fo shizz!

And lovies I promise to spill about the wedding thing soon....maybe this weekend, since it is supposed to rain. AGAIN! (Thanks mother nature for holding it til the weekend two weeks in a row!)

how to MAKE IT, BABY!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG, do you guys watch 'How to Make in America' on HBO???? If not you should! LIKE NOW.

It totally does not help my obsession and unnatural desire to live in NY. No not ONE bit! I guess I should explain....I have an unnatural obsession with NYC, and a need to live in NY. It started as a kid... my Uncle was a Big Wig at Times Mirror, lived on Park Ave, and house in the Hampton's - and it has evolved from there, every time I go I never want to leave. I have a feeling that it is something that is just meant for me. I can't explain it but it is is this overwhelming feeling and some way, some how it will eventually be a reality. (I hope sooner than later!)

Any who, I am completely enamored with the show (But come-on HBO MAKE IT AN HOUR!!!!!!! Does anyone know someone who can pull some strings?! As well as cast me, cuz those boys are HAWT! Bryan Greenberg...droll! [Sorry babe!]). And I hate to admit it, but I get giddy when the show comes on. I even danced around to the intro last night, much to the Man's chagrin.

So come'on and dance with me!!! :) Yes I am a goof (but if you can't laugh at yourself, then who can you laugh at?!)!

nerd alert!

How freaking cool is this! Thanks to the blogging world (here, and here) I have been able to make it through the day, under the weather-at work-waiting to go get these NON SJP highlights taken care of! Man I feel like poop! I hope to get rid of this bug this weekend!

Any who...I have been trolling the greatest thing since sliced bread... literally all darn day! What is it you ask?! I know I am scattered brained an can't think clearly today either!

Ok, so the New York Public Library has added a digital library. You can search for images of everything! And you can PRINT for FREEEEEEE!!!!! I am now trying to figure out what I need an where!  I personally am drawn to the floor plans. Weird I know, I tried to explain to the Man my obsession with them while we were in the Modern Wing but he just didn't get it.

Typical floor plan of the Hend... Digital ID: 417142. New York Public Library

Map showing transportation fac... Digital ID: 417140. New York Public Library

Four decorative compositions Digital ID: 74810. New York Public Library

OMG please go...look! Fall in love. Tell them I sent you! JK, maybe they will let em order a few prints for free! (You can buy copies as well - larger sizes) I can't tell you how amazing this is!

What were your favs????

sometimes it is worth repeating....

HAPPY ST. PATS! This Holiday marks a bit of my heritage, a bit of my love (The Man and I started officially dating St Patty's weekend a few years back, 3 to be exact!) and the nearness of spring! Bare shoulders, sandals, flowers OH MY!

Hail the choir, lets jump for joy, all sorts of the jazz.

Well I got the following in an email today. I made me smile. Smile real big. I really like it! So I thought why not share! I am kind, I know!

1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.
2. Nothing sucks more than  that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.
3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was  younger.
4. There is great need for a sarcasm  font.
5. How are you supposed to fold a fitted  sheet?
6. Was learning cursive really necessary?
7. Map Quest really needs to start their  directions on #5.  I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.
8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you howthe person died.
9. I  can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.
10. Bad decisions make good stories.
11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't  going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.
12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.
13. I'm  always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.
14. "Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this-- EVER!!!
15. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello?),
but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voice mail.  What'd  you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?
16. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then
not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.
17. I  keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know
not to answer when they call.
18. My 4-year old son asked me in the car the other day, "Mom, what would happen if you ran over a ninja?" How do I respond to that?
19. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.
20. I disagree with Kay Jewelers.  I would bet on any given Friday
or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lites than Kay.
21. And finally…Have you ever wondered if that dollar bill your
holding has ever been in a strippers butt crack?  You are now…

For me number 11 couldn't be more true TODAY! OMG Between FB, twitter, Flickr, online shops, and blogs and more blogs.....I had to force my self to get through some of the tedious tasks at work and look where I am now!

Do you have any the make you smile? Or any that you think should join the list?

hello...hello you there

I have been listening to this song for a while now....and now the video is out. I had heard rumblings about it's craziness, and boy were they right! Oh Gaga....what goes through that bleached and platinum head of yours!

Here is the video of her newest song 'Telephone' ft. Beyonce. I still don't know what to think of it! Part of me is swooning, and part of me really, really dislikes it! The cigges glasses....her abs!....the molded-telephone hats..oh my!

getting closer

I can not wait for my hair to grow out.

More.

Longer.

I would love to rock a braid like this, this summer.....maybe..... hopefully.... we will be there sooner than later! Growing out your hair sucks @$$! And mine is curly, so it is about 4 inches shorter when I wear it curly than when I wear it straight....Talk about messing with you mind!

lets get naked!!!!!!

I wanna go nude! oh...don't make me blush

Get your minds outta the gutter you dirty birds!

I am totally in love with one of the springs newest trends....Nude and Blush items. They are so girlie, and fresh. After hiding out all winter in layers and dark clothes I am ready to step into this springs newest fashion trend!

What are your thoughts??? Are you guys getting any blush or nude pieces to add to your wardrobe this spring?

Flash, Bang, Boom...there you are done!

So Mama needs to do some shopping, I have been a very good girl for quite some time now (If you don't count the Jeffery Campbell Tick Wedges, or those other B.M pair, which I think I neglected to introduce to you guys. They are insane, and I am in love, can't wait for the sidewalks to dry up a bit so I can sport those bad boys!)....I just have the itch and it needs some *ahem* retail therapy to cure it!

I am currently lusting over the notion of getting a Polaroid camera. And then before you know it and wham -now I feel that I NEED it! I don't really need it since I have one of these - which is simply amazing! But the nostalgia and fun it would be to own one just seems to good to be true! They instantly bring me back to my childhood. My grandma used to have one - she would let me snap a million pictures of whatever I want, I wish I had those images now!

(Hint to The MAN....I NEED one of these!)

I want to hang some like this in the house! Maybe the perfect solution for the blank spot over the new bed!

Has anyone done this? Do you have one?! Am I silly for needing a Polaroid Camera? I think it is totally justifyable and a necessity!

Cooking Files: Granola

Better than the boxed stuff. This homemade granola will rock your hemp knit socks off....what you aren't a tree huggin hippie and don't wear stuff like that?! Well then this will rock your Prada-laden world!

It is soo easy to make and soooo dang good! You can eat plain, over yogurt, with milk...you name it you got it. I am think parfaits in the summer, and covered in strawberries...in just a few short months!

So here we go! To make this tasty treat you will need:

4 cups of old fashioned rolled oats (don't use the instant kind)
2 cups sweetened, shredded coconut
2 cups sliced almonds
1 1/2 cup Craisins, or raisins or both!
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup of Honey
2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon of Vanilla

- Pre Heat your oven to 350 degrees F.
- Now toss the oats, coconut, almonds and craisins into a large bowl. (Use one bigger than you think, or else you may get a tiny bit messy like me, I had some over flow in the next steps.)

- Then stir it all up! (carefully.... unlike me :) But all ingredients are Doggieman approved!)

- Pour the oil and honey over the oat mixture, stir well, until all the oats and nuts are covered with the liquid (again, be careful!)

- Add the cinnamon and stir. Then vanilla and stir.

- Pour out on on to a rimmed sheet pan, sprayed with Pam.

-Bake, stirringly occasionally with your spatula, until nice and golden brown. About 25-30. When it is done, let it cool while stirring occasionally. Store in an air tight container.

 ENJOY!

Don't forget to pack a couple bags for your coworkers....unless you don't like them! But if you do, they will thank you later (PROMISE!)

up, up and away

Introducing you to a Washington band.... MODEST MOUSE. This song (Float On) is off their fourth album (geeze will kids in 20 years even know what that is?!?!?) and I have been rocking to it since I got the CD for x-mas back in '04.

Hope you enjoy!

if I could be half this cool....

I was gonna share a new found love in my life....the holy-grail of lip balms, the most amazing thing since...since anything! But then I found this article via the New York Mag. I totally want to grab a gaggle of friends, go raid a thrift store and get a giant empty warehouse and make our own.

YOU HAVE GOT TO WATCH THIS!!!! The song isn't so bad either! :)

Oh and for those who really want the go get the most amazing lip balm ever, you need to go and get yourself a tube or five of this stuff! GO...

It is Laura Mercier Lip Silk. I am not kidding this stuff works wonders! Your hair won't get stuck in it like most glosses, and gives you the most kissable lips! Dry, cracked, flaky lips (come on it isn't pretty in the dry humid-less air up here during the winter months!) apply, and then then next thing you know...SILK! I am officially addicted and recommend it to ALL. I have shared it with the Man and Miss Skinny, I can not get over it!

blush, giggle, sigh...rinse and repeat!

OMGoodness! I am sooo honored to have recieved an award....a BLOG award! I recieved this bad-boy....well more of a beautiful girl... well anyways... I recieved this wonderful award from no other than Mrs. Valentine!!! She is a witty, spicy, amazing and talented woman. We have bonded over our So-Cal roots, Chicago lives, dreams of life in warmth, memories the beach, Cali food and our fondness for cocktails! (Who happens to be one of my real life BEST friends too! So I get the best of both worlds with this little lover!). She awarded me a Beautiful Blogger award! :)

Ok so to hold up my part of the deal, I now need to follow up and do a few more things. This award comes with a littel to-do list. My kinda award! HA!

1 - A little shout to the person who gave you this....well see above, but in case you missed it. Mrs. Valentine has an awesomely wonderful blog, where she talks about cheese, her wild pack of dogs (JK Jake is the man, and Beans who wouldn't love her!) and a whole lot of other greatness. We used to be real life neighbors til her and the hubby went all 'Burb-a-licious, now the man and I stare off into the sunset, lonely. No, but seriously the Man and I miss the Valentine's and all our impromptu summer BBQ's!

2 - Link you up to their blogity-blog...again see above (or to the right). West by Midwest, by the one and only Mrs. Valentine. Wow I have been so proactive, so early today!

3 - Post the award...Well DUH! Check and Check. Everyone likes to show off their awards, so it is front and center!

4- Now I am to list 7 interesting facts about myself. Hmm, well okay, I already did 10 things you probably wouldn't know about me a while back....so lets see what embarassing fact-oids I can dig up. Don't judge internet world!

- I totally want to be just like my younger brother when I grow up. Thank gawd I am 10 years older than him, I wouldn't have survived in his awesomely perfect wake. I am not sure he even knows the magnitude of my admiration and love I have for him and everything he acheives. I wish I could be just a quarter of what he is! He is freaking awesome!

- I have given CPR and saved a girls life. No pats on the back, you just go into survival mode and do what you know how. I guess you probably want to know more than that....so here we go. Over the summer of junior year in college, Mom, Bro and I were in the FL Keys enjoying the last days of summer, and tanning poolside. One of the other children at the pool (a HS aged girl) decided to try jumping into the deep end and then shimmying around the edge to the shallow side. Deep into the latest In Touch or US Weekly, Mom and I were paying no attention. Bro screams to come help and everyone leaps up. Another gentleman dives right in, and grabs her from the bottom, I immediately follow suit. We get her limp body to the surface, her family is now poolside screaming. I get out and Mom, Bro, another gentleman and myself pull her out. The men get the family to step back, and I kinda took over. Checking her airway, watching for breath, tilt back the head, pinch the nose, and away we go. About 5-7 times trought he CPR cycle she starts coughing, gently try and roll her, so she can rid what's in her lungs. A few moments later the paramedicas are there. They wisked her away. We found out later she was life-flighted to Maimi due to the amount of water in her lungs.

Ok, too deep??? onto funky, interesting and embarassing facts!
- I have no birthmark. (Editors note....It was removed as a baby so I have a 4inch scar on my back.) But sounds way cooler when I say I have none.

- I took sign language in college, as my foreign language. So between the 4 years of French in HS and this, I still don't know a lick Spanish and I grew up miles from the border....Well I mean you learn how to find the 'banos' and how to get another 'cervesa' at like childbirth in SD, but beyond that. Nope.

- As a kid, I always dreamed of breaking my arm, in hopes of getting a cast! A cast was key!....to the point I am sure I made a news years resoultion to do it in grade school, only to told that is not what a resolution was. None of the bones I have broken have ever required a cast, sholder, collarbone, toes...nope.

- List freak. I am sure if I wouldn't go to the looney bin I would have a master list, tracking all my sub lists. Baby Name List. Target List. To-Do List. Wedding Lists out the ying-yang. Lists of things for the Man to-do.

- Reality show whore. You name it have probably at some point watched it, DVR'd it, etc. Current obessions are: Kell on Earth, Project Runway, Keeping up with the Kardashians, 16 & Preggers, The Hills, The City (when on), Amazing Race. Ok enough now.

5 - Now I get to nominate 7 of you lovies to recieve the award! In no particular order here are some of my favorite reads!

Jenn (With TWO N's) at I'm Over it.
Melisa at The Lil Bee.
Amber over at Amber's Notebook.
Ashley and Aron at Hither and Tither.
Alexandra at HRH's Collection.
SF and SD Brides at Tulle and Feathers.
Lyndsy at Yellow Brick Blog.

it is just in me

You can take the girl out of California, but you CAN'T take the California outta THIS GIRL!!!!!

I am and will always be a CA chick! ....grew up on punk & rock 'N roll!

Here is a trip down memory lane....waaaay back to the early 90's. It sure does make me think of summer days, running around in my swimsuit from the time I woke until bed. Lord, can it be summer already.....winter is starting to wear on me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Green Day's Basket Case. Still on this girls I-Pod!

(I should mention  my best friend and I had a dance to this song...oh and like 30 others...but getting into details, now that would just embarrassing :) )
