oh so studly!

I don't know why but I am madly in love with both of these images. They are very, very differently and are both very studly in their own way. And very apealing to ME!

This is a picture of Russian Parachuters in a training session, Moscow '09.

I need to do this in my life! I love the way they look sooo tiny failing behind a massive plane. Like little ducks following their mama...but not, you know?!

And then there are these.....sigh! STUD-MUFFIN! well not really but they rock my socks!

A-ba-dee aba-dee a-ba-dee, that's all folks...WELL for the BREAK that is!

well well well folks.

It has been a roller coaster these past two weeks! You know those roller coasters that have warning for pregnant ladies and those with back problems need to avoid. And for that I apologize, I really miss you guys!!!! I haven't commented as often as I would like, or gotten to read every single blog post you lovelies have written. However I will be back in action sooooo soon! PROMISE!

Lets see over the past week in my house hold we have had a lay-off, unemployment dealings, babysitting duties, interviews (x3), awarded a Beautiful Blogger by a bestie (post forthcoming!), an abscessed tooth - and subsequent urgent mouth surgery, rumblings of a promotion (insert crossed fingers!), more interviews, Chicago Art Institute (free February), biopsies and doctors visits (oy vey!), Chicago Auto Show....and some shopping too of course!

I do hope you understand! Do you??? You do. Ok pheew! Thanks!

I will leave you with a few of pictures from the past few weeks!

so spill what have you been up to???? Can anyone find the 'Tick" wedges by Jeffery Campbell?!?!?! I need, I fear I wanted to looooong :(

not all bugs are meant to be squashed!

In our house I am the sole Beatles lover....the Man, he does not like them. I think I drive him nuts when I play them over and over in the shower or sing random lyrics. But alas I love them! So much so I took courses in college solely related to learning more about them and their style of music, how it forever changed what we now as music today (Which happend to be taught by probably one of the greatest professors of all time). Yes my father demanded to know why I would take a course like this, "a waste of time and money' he claimed....however when you have to take a music course as a pre-req this is what I choose, and I won.

So without further ado, here is one of my favs....Beatles 'In My Life"

pass the dooce, the Xanax, Valium or 5 Bottles of wine.......

OMG, shoot me now! Why do you have a major wedding melt down...at work...swamped...with the internet at your finger tips.

I have been having major anxiety all morning about the Man and I's pending nutpituals. Can you pass me a paper bag kinda worrying over here today! Why???? I have no flipping clue, cuz if I did I would kick it right in the @$$, just like Shaun White did to the rest of the men's snowboarding field in the men's Half-pipe at the Olympics last night!

I was just sitting here typing and doing away, then slam. Tight chest, heart racing, you name it I got it.  I've shot off frantic emails and texts to the Man and Mom. I pray they both respond soon, with words of encouragement or it is going to be a Two or Ten martini lunch!

So if you read regularly you are probably wondering why or how there is not wedding maddness going on up in this joint...well I guess I should start to tell our plans (but maybe tomorrow!!!)right now I am drowning myself in self pity and reading wedding blog after wedding blog, which in case you are wondering does NOT help the situation but definitely increases my "I am failing at my wedding" feeling.... Seriously Xanax anyone?!?! Ok, maybe I guess a pop from the vending machine will do!

what's a girl to do........

Have you ever moved far far away for 'home'?

Home is a place you grow up wanting to leave, and grow old wanting to get back to.  ~John Ed Pearce

Now home to me is where I grew up, my childhood, where I spent many many a moon in my younger years. Le sigh. Getting old! Tangent... but anyway when you move away from home, in the beginning it is fun, exciting and so new. After you settle in and discover the ins and outs of your new 'hood (the good mani/pedi place, the best grocery store, closest bar, dry cleaners etc what??? those are the places you find first? ) you may start to find holes. If you are anything like me you start to miss your favorites FOOD places from home.

I haven't been home since I left California in Aug '06. Shocking. Took off in a packed full car pulling the rest of our life in a U-Haul behind us. Now you probably wonder why the heck haven't you been back? I know right. Well it isn't really easy to pin point my reasoning. I want to visit family and I will go where my brother is (Mom and Bro don't live in SD anymore). I love to travel and explore new places, so I like using my vacations to do just that. Whether it is setting off to a new beach in Mexico or a weekend exploring more of my favorite city (NYC) or traveling abroad. They all just have a bit more appeal initially than going back to a place I know very well, know 24 years well.

However this 4 year jaunt apart from MY city is really starting to take a toll. A toll more on my stomach than anything else!

I miss these California ONLY places! (there are some that I love because of location, but they are elsewhere so I am leaving them off the list)

- Any ...wait make that ALL the hole-in the wall Mexican places....if you haven't already heard I have a thing for Mexican food. I could devour a Carne Asada Burrito, Carne fries, rolled tacos with guac
El Indio.....the tortillas, the ummm well EVERYTHING!
IN n ' OUT . OMG why did I just think of that! Double Double animal style STAT! With fries and a vanilla shake please!
Casa de Pico. Margarita fountain, carnitas, the fresh tortillas! Old Town local (well not anymore!)
Sees Candies. Their toffee bars. TO. DIE. FOR.

Now if I keep going will you judge me??? I love tasty food! No? ok here are a few more!

Point Loma Seafood.....Fish sandwich.....shrimp plate.....droll
Rubios! Fish tacos, the Burrito Especial OH MY!
Jake's Del Mar - food and location a MUST!

ok...I will stop with the various food places. Maybe that is why I don't want to go back! I will eat for my entire stay and roll all the way home! :)

But I do have to add. I really really miss the beach. I miss the salt water, even the sand getting in places you don't want. I miss people watching, waking up at the crack of dawn to get a spot in the sand of the 4th....oh SD how you tear at my heart. I think the Man and I may be taking a short weekend to SD much sooner than later....unless we go somewhere else first! :)

I am not sure what to say, how to act or what to do. I may take a break, I may bombarded you internet world with fashion lusts I wish I could afford (in an effort to escape). I don't know... I will be back but it may take a few days and lots of jack N cokes before I am back. Back to normal blogging me.

I had a grand post about the Olympics, and V-day but they will have to hold for a few. so..... Have a good weekend, enjoy the start of the winter Olympics! I chat at you soon. Promise.

One may live without bread, not without roses" - Jean Richepin

It snowed and snowed last night, so when I woke this morning I knew a dress was in order to make my day that much cheerier! I snapped these photos before I changed out of my Wellies and even before the daily coffee!

Wearing a dress, covered in roses, and my boots (Wellington style boots are traditional to Britain, and which are completely necessary to make it to the office dry in these parts!) I felt like I should be frolicking in an English countryside...chasing after butterflies, followed by a faithful collie. Wait isn't that a movie or book scene (if not it should be! :) )

Any who here is my outfit of the day! I happen to really like it, I feel extra girlie!

Dress: Urban Outfitters (similar here)
Cardigan: Boyfriend Cardi Old Navy (here)
Belt: F21 (similar here)
Tights: Cable Knit by HUE (from Nordstrom Rack)
Boots: Hunter (Here)

I even wore little roses on my ears!

bagalicious

MINE. ALL MINE! :)

Yup you read that right! There are not many words to describe the way I felt when I opened my eyes and saw this bad @$$ handbag...and here is just another reason why "THIS IS WHY I LOVE THIS MAN THIS MUCH"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (his gifts are divine!!!!!)

My man knows my favorites, and takes hints wonderfully! I got this beautiful gift last night!!!! He is pretty dreamy ladies!!!! (I can't wait to get it personalized with my new initials after the wedding!!!)

Now I won't look frumpy when lugging gym clothes to and from work and or running around town with a million things to do!

no, not grandma

So Sunday was the Grammy's...did you watch??? I did. Not too sure of that I thought about Lady Gaga and Elton John's opening performance..... and Pinks submerged-in-water-then-spinning-and-wringing-water-all-over-the-crowd number. Kinda a train wreck for me. I don't know just didn't work it for me.

But what I did LOVEEEEEE was the dress Fergie from the Black Eyed Pies wore. She totally rocked it!!! HAWT! Don't you agree? And dear lord if you could make my legs resemble anything close to that by wedding day - eternally yours! (They are to die for!!!!!)

Work it girl, work IT!

Ok enough! She was my best dressed for the night, maybe just because of her hot bod! (but the dress really works on her too!) I liked Beyonce, but thought she could have gone a little more 'fun' if you know what I mean. I also, reallllllly loved the dress of Keri Hilson, but felt that dress by D&G would have been better at a different award show just not the Grammy's....wedding anyone?!?! (Sorry I can't get it outta my brain!)

There were a bunch of other cute cocktail dress out there, but I couldn't get passed the blue! What were your favs??? Or major faults?

rock it out....

Time for a little installment of Music Monday folks! (ok, well it is the first time but welcome nonetheless!)

On my Music Monday's....you may find a classic, maybe something you won't like, maybe you will find a hidden jem you've never heard before....Maybe just maybe we will rock out together!

Music always helps me get through my Monday afternoon slump, so I figured I would share, I can't be the only one who gets to feeling this way. Where I set into food coma from a good lunch (since lunches on Monday are normally the best - thanks to the weekend grocery run!), my weekend high is running very low....very low and I am already looking forward to the next weekend!

Music is my little pick me up!

Enjoy some rumbling from MUSE.
